    WHAT IS TM?

Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a simple, natural, effortless technique practised for 20 minutes while sitting comfortably.

It allows your mind to settle inward easily until you experience the most silent and peaceful level of your awareness.

    More about Transcendental Meditation

Transcendental Meditation doesn’t focus on breathing or chanting, like other forms of meditation. Instead, it encourages a restful state of mind beyond thinking… A 2009 study found Transcendental Meditation helped alleviate stress in college students, while another found it helped reduce blood pressure, anxiety, depression and anger.

TM is an acceptable and potentially beneficial way of helping people with their post-trauma mental health recovery, particularly after experiencing violence. The finding provides initial evidence for the acceptability and feasibility of TM as a mental health intervention. Furthermore, across treatment, the women showed potentially large improvements in PTSD symptoms, as well as moderate changes in depressive symptoms.

The CSIRO Healthy Heart Program published in 2008 states, “A recent report suggests that evidence is not strong enough to recommend general meditation as a treatment for high blood pressure. A specific form of meditation, however, known as Transcendental Meditation, has been shown to be very effective”
