Transcendental Meditation doesn’t focus on breathing or chanting, like other forms of meditation. Instead, it encourages a restful state of mind beyond thinking… A 2009 study found Transcendental Meditation helped alleviate stress in college students, while another found it helped reduce blood pressure, anxiety, depression and anger.
TM is an acceptable and potentially
beneficial way of helping people with their post-trauma mental health recovery,
particularly after experiencing violence. The finding provides initial evidence for the
acceptability and feasibility of TM as a mental health intervention. Furthermore,
across treatment, the women showed potentially large improvements in PTSD
symptoms, as well as moderate changes in depressive symptoms.
The CSIRO Healthy Heart Program published in 2008 states, “A recent report suggests that evidence is not strong enough to recommend general meditation as a treatment for high blood pressure. A specific form of meditation, however, known as Transcendental Meditation, has been shown to be very effective”
HOW is TM Different?
1
Benefits start straight away
The profound rest experienced during TM dissolves deep-rooted stresses and fatigue – helping you feel lighter, clearer, and happier
2
Super easy to do
No trying to ‘empty the mind’
No mindfulness monitoring of thoughts
No concentrating
No trying to control the mind
No particular sitting postures are required (a chair will do!)
Anyone can do it – even if you think you ‘can’t meditate’
3
Most researched meditation
Hundreds of published research studies have found the TM technique to be highly effective for stress-related conditions, brain function, and cardiovascular health
4
Personalised instruction
The TM technique is not a “one size fits all’. It’s taught one-on-one and is carefully personalised for you.
The TM Course takes place over four consecutive days.
Day 1 is through personal instruction.
Days 2, 3, and 4 can be conducted either in-person, in a small group session at the TM Centre, or at home with our interactive digital content and live video meetings.
Either way, your TM course will be with your certified teacher.
Our focus is to make the TM technique available to everyone, including at-risk populations throughout Australia.
Maharishi Foundation Australia, a registered not-for-profit charity, teaches the TM technique in Australia, as does our sister not-for-profit organisation, GMDO Ltd.
The TM course fee helps cover the operating costs of our national network of 40 TM Centres/locations and the national offices that serve them to provide TM Courses and free lifetime follow-up support for meditators.
