Brisbane’s new Transcendental Meditation® (TM) Centre is set to celebrate its grand opening on 4 May at its new permanent location in Kangaroo Point.

Led by two highly experienced teachers of Transcendental Meditation, Valerie Thurlow and Wendy Rosenfeldt, the TM Centre will offer regular TM courses, TM retreats, and social events for meditators.

Wendy, who has been teaching the TM technique for over 25 years, will also offer Ayurvedic health consultations and seminars, providing personalised diet and lifestyle advice.

Valerie learned Transcendental Meditation (TM) in New Zealand in 1974 and became a TM teacher in 1978, following training in Switzerland with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of the TM program.

Centrally located in Kangaroo Point, the TM Centre will be conducting courses three or four times a month. Free Introductory Sessions are held via Zoom. The Centre is hosting a “centre-warming” with delicious food and beverages on 4 May at 3 pm. There will also be a group meditation at this event.

Wendy says teaching TM is deeply rewarding.

“It’s so fulfilling when students report how TM has transformed their lives,” Wendy says.

“Many are surprised by how deep and compelling the experience of TM is, especially when compared to other meditation programs.

“It’s always pleasing to see students appreciate the simplicity and effectiveness of TM, which often surprises the most sceptical of people when they learn TM.”

Group meditations will also begin at the new location each Wednesday at 6:00 pm and Sunday at 4:00 pm.

Valerie added that when people come to learn Transcendental Meditation, they are often anxious, stressed, and lack sleep.

“When they learn to transcend, they feel more relaxed and more patient within just a few meditations,” said Valerie.

“And each time, the technique is so refreshing and restorative. There is just nothing like it, to see people completely transformed like that.”

Valerie says that when she explains to people why they feel so calm and relaxed after learning Transcendental Meditation (TM), it is because of the technique’s effortless nature, which brings numerous benefits quickly.

“It’s your intrinsic nature. It’s just who you are, the best version of yourself, and you’re becoming more of that person,” Valerie says.

Offering Ayurvedic Services at the TM Centre

“I am hosting a Maharishi Ayurveda seminar that will cover information about the unique mind/body types as well as practical tips to improve sleep, digestion and energy levels,” Wendy says.

“I will also introduce other aspects of Vedic knowledge, including Maharishi’s Vedic architecture and Maharishi’s Vedic astrology.”
