A highly sought-after Australian interior designer said the Transcendental Meditation® technique is a “super power”, which has transformed her personal and professional life.

Eve France, a Melbourne-based intuitive, eco-friendly interior designer who has worked on top projects across Australia, spoke with Mustafa Nuristani, host of the Stillness in Success podcast.

Eve said Transcendental Meditation helped her find her calm during a deeply challenging time in her life.

“There was some difficulty in my marriage for a while,” Eve, who is the author of Healing to Become Her e-book, said.

“There were some things that we were finding really hard to resolve. But, you know, there was deep love there too,” she said.

“My husband, at the time, was running an architecture practice. He was very stressed. It was high pressure. So, he was in his own little bubble. I was in mine, trying to juggle a lot.”

Realising that the stress is having a negative impact on her well-being, Eve began to look for some calm to regain her resilience.

“I started a morning routine because I was like, I can’t cope,” Eve said.

“So, I would get up half an hour before my daughter and I would just take some time for myself,” she said.

“I just started doing 10 minutes of meditation. I would have a cup of tea outside on the roof. I’d meditate, and I might do a little bit of gratitude or journaling or something.”

While this practice gave Eve some calm, her personal life took a turn for the worse.

“Unfortunately, we were not able to resolve stuff with our marriage… It was obviously a very devastating event,” Eve said.

“I was finding it really hard to meditate because there was a lot on my mind. And I was reading some beautiful books by Gabby Bernstein… and reading her blog where she was talking about her morning routine, and I was always fascinated with all successful people’s morning routines,” she said.

It was Gabby Bernstein’s morning ritual of practising TM that caught Eve’s eye and introduced her to the Transcendental Meditation technique.

As soon as Eve read about TM, she knew “it was for her” and she “learnt straight away”.

“It’s [TM] been incredible. It’s a superpower. It’s a tool for life,” Eve said.

“And what it’s done with my creativity and my intuition and being able to make better choices myself,” she said.

“For my work, it’s been amazing. I’m faster. I make quicker decisions.

‘I just intuitively feel more of what my clients’ needs are. It’s been life-changing.”

Eve has been practising the Transcendental Meditation technique regularly for the last three years.

“I have stuck with it. I’ve been doing retreats. I definitely have my days and weeks where I’m not as consistent, but then I always go back to it,” Eve said.
