An Australian marketing and advertising expert says the Transcendental Meditation® technique gave him balance and “allowed him to be at his best”.
Misha Vaxman has been in marketing and advertising for several years. As the co-founder of the ad agency, Creative Led Marketing Group (CLMG), he was managing a growing team of 24 people, juggling high-profile clients like JB Hi-Fi and launching international brands.
Speaking with Mustafa Nuristani, host of Stillness in Success podcast, Misha said the high pressure of maintaining his role and growing his business led him, not through a planned intervention, but through subtle synchronicities, to the Transcendental Meditation® technique.
Misha says the signs “were everywhere”, first his sister mentioned Transcendental Meditation, then his brother-in-law spoke about its benefits. Within a week these repeated mentions felt like a “cosmic nudge”.
Misha said that when he learned the TM technique, he became “more in control of his life”.
“It just gave me this balance during work that allowed me to be at my best – calm, calculated, peaceful, not irritable,” Misha said.
“I was just open minded. If there’s a situation that’s not good, being stressed, angry, irritable doesn’t help that situation, if anything, it makes it worse,” he said.
“So, having this technique and being able to just go away and calm yourself down, you definitely come out with a clear mind and a calmer state. But also, there’s probably an answer that comes to you, intuitively.”
Misha said where he once reacted with stress and irritability to challenging business situations, after TM he responded with clarity and composure.
He said complex decisions that once seemed overwhelming now emerged with intuitive simplicity. His team noticed the difference and commented on his new centred state even during turbulent times.
Misha also spoke about the accessibility of the Transcendental Meditation technique saying the “beauty of what TM is, is that you don’t need to sit in silence to practice it”.
“I just did it in the car,” Misha said, adding: “And that’s the beauty of what it is, you can literally do it anywhere.”
“You have that tool, which is so powerful and really enjoyable. And I feel like the more I’ve done it, the better I feel from it.”
Misha said the most significant transformation, through TM, was in his role as a father, as peace within was cultivated, Misha could be completely present with his young children. He said being calm and centred was the greatest gift he could offer them.
This self-awareness led to Misha’s decision to exist his business and start a new chapter.
“I will be transitioning out of the business, which has been my child for the last five years,” Misha said.
“So, not having to focus on the business and being able to focus on my actual children is a great feeling,” he said.
“The person I was five years ago to the person that I am now with TM, with all the experience of running a business, going through the ups and downs, COVID, all of that, I just feel like I’m in a very different place.”
The Transcendental Meditation technique is always taught in person and one on one by a certified teacher of the technique.
There are more than 40 locations across Australia where the TM technique course is offered.
